We had a fantastic Fourth of July here in Springfield. Our friends Ray, Kerry and Avery had us over to their house to watch the Midtown Parade from their porch.
Some highlights of the parade included the Midtown Victorian Drill Team
Old timey cars throwing candy in the streets for the kiddos
A group of penny farthing cyclists. Please note the handlebar mustache on this gentleman - apparently he has won prizes for his facial hair.
After the parade we enjoyed sandwiches and a patriotic tart with the Patton-Allans.
In the evening we met up with Justin and Elaine and walked over to the ballpark for a good, old fashioned baseball game. The game ended in dramatic fashion as the Springfield Cardinals went home victorious with a 9th inning walk off home run to win 2-1! Afterwards there was a brief concert then fireworks over the field set to music. What a fun Independence Day. Hope yours was equally lovely.
