Annie eats salmon skin

Dear readers, Annie would like you to know that her most favorite people in the world visited last month. Why are they her favorite, you ask? Well, because they fed her wild Alaskan fresh caught red salmon skin that got stuck to the pan. It was out of this world! You, too, dear reader, can be Annie's favorite if you come visit us in Claremont and feed her something besides kibble. :)

Cousin Meghan and her boyfriend Nate (who is also a Wyomingite like Dan) were in town for Nate's cousin's wedding in Eagle Rock. They arrived Tuesday night and I picked them (and Nate's giant Styrofoam box full of fresh catch) up at the airport. From there we headed out to eat at Din Tai Fung where we had dumplings that were amazing. We ate other things too, but really . . . DUMPLINGS! This restaurant started in Singapore and has a Michelin star there, it has since opened locations in SoCal!

Cousin Mary and Meghan reunited in Claremont!
The next day, Annie was thoroughly spoiled with Meghan and Nate home with her cuddling her and playing fetch in the backyard. We ate lunch together then after dinner we headed to happy hour at Claremont Craft Ales then off to Ashirwad the Blessing for a delicious vegetarian Indian dinner. On Thursday Meghan and Nate explored the surrounding towns on foot and hung out with Annie. When I knocked off work Annie, Nate and Meggie met me on campus for a quick campus highlights tour before we went to the dividing the light art exhibit on Pomona's campus.

Back at home we had our neighbors join us for a delightful meal of Alaskan red salmon, vegetables, cheese and charcutrie and yummy hot-air popped popcorn drizzled with chocolate. Annie may have even snuck a popcorn kernel in addition to her salmon skin treat!

Dinner with family and friends at Chez Livesay

On Friday Meghan and Nate headed to LA for his cousin's wedding weekend celebrations and we met them up on Sunday and whisked them off for a cruise down Mulholland drive, dinner in Santa Monica and then said our farewells at the airport (where they barely made it on their plane home in time!)

Until next time . . .
